What ScholarMuse collects, why, and the choices you have
2026/10/12
ScholarMuse (scholarmuse.ai) is operated by TopLocalAI, LLC ("we", "us"). ScholarMuse gives AI agents access to academic tools such as paper search, reference checks, research data and scientific figures.
If you have a question about this policy or your data, write to davie@daviechen.com.
When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you provide it or sign in through a provider such as Google or GitHub, your name and profile picture. We also keep your settings, such as which discipline packs are switched on, and the list of agents you have approved.
Each time an agent or API key on your account uses a ScholarMuse tool, we record:
You can see this log on your Activity page.
When you ask for a scientific figure, we store the description that was sent and the image that was produced, so that you can download or edit it later from your Files page.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment details; we do not receive or store your full card number. We keep a record of your purchases, your plan and your credit balance.
Some tools on the website can be used without an account, a limited number of times per day. To apply that limit we store a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for a short time. We do not store the address itself for this purpose.
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, and analytics to understand how the website is used. See our Cookie Policy.
If you write to us by email or through the contact form, we keep your message and contact details so that we can answer you.
We use the data described above to:
We do not use your requests to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal data.
Your AI agent is provided by another company. What that company does with your conversations is covered by its own terms and privacy policy, not this one.
We keep your account data, call logs and files for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete this data or make it anonymous, except for records we need to keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons, such as payment records.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
We and our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No online service can be completely secure, so please keep your password and API keys safe and tell us if you think your account has been misused.
ScholarMuse is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
We may update this policy. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you by email or in the product.
