Dryad
Dryad is a non-profit data repository where researchers publish the data behind their articles, mostly in the life and environmental sciences. Through ScholarMuse, an agent searches published Dryad datasets by keyword and gets the DOI, authors, publication date, storage size, keywords, licence and the identifier of the primary article each dataset supports.
ScholarMuse tools: search_datasets. Each successful call uses credits.
The web tool runs without an account, up to 5 runs a day per visitor.

What your agent gets back
Every record carries id, source, title, url, license, attribution and retrievedAt. The fields below are the data that comes from Dryad.
search_datasets
relatedArticle is present only when Dryad marks a related work as the primary article.
- doi
- Dataset DOI, lower case
- creators
- Creator names, up to 10
- year
- Publication year
- date
- Publication date as given by Dryad
- description
- Dataset abstract, tags removed
- sizeBytes
- Storage size in bytes
- keywords
- Author keywords, up to 8
- version
- Dryad version number
- relatedArticle
- Identifier of the primary article
- license
- Licence of the dataset, as an SPDX id
- alsoIn
- Other sources that returned the same dataset
What it covers
- Published datasets in Dryad, as returned by its public search API.
- Each record links to https://doi.org/ plus the dataset DOI, which resolves to the Dryad page.
- The licence comes from each dataset's own record.
Limits
- One call returns at most 25 datasets (default 10). When several repositories are searched together, that number is shared between them, so name Dryad alone to fill it.
- The only search input is a keyword query. There are no year, licence, author or file-type filters; the agent has to read those fields in the results.
- No file list, file formats or download links are returned, and the tool does not read the data files. An upstream request is abandoned after 30 seconds.
How ScholarMuse reaches Dryad
The connector calls datadryad.org/api/v2/search with the keyword query and no API key.
Responses are cached for up to 6 hours, so a dataset published at Dryad in the last few hours may not appear yet.
API key: the upstream API can be called without one, so you do not add one.
Licence and attribution
